Casa de Campos – Luxury Resort – Dominican Republic

*share me with your friends* ^_^

See another side of the Dominican Republic at Casa de Campos, a luxury resort. Located in La Romana, this is a must-see place if you’re planning a trip to the Caribbean anytime soon. Don’t worry, this is NOT the resort that have been in the news lately for unfortunate events.

When I say luxury, this resort definitely takes it up a notch. There are 7,000 acres to this place. In addition to Casa de Campos being the #1 golf resort in the Caribbean, there’s so much to see and do from shopping, to outdoor activities, to the tried and true drinking and eating. Here are a few highlights from our stay.

All-inclusive

There are all-inclusive packages for $249/night per person. For the money, it really includes a lot of great things. A standard hotel room, a golf cart, food and drinks, unlimited horseback riding/non-motorized water sports/tennis, 1 round of skeet shooting, and various programs for kids and families. We opted for the all-inclusive package with a suite upgrade. The only downside to the all-inclusive package was having to cash out everywhere we went. I’m used to totally all-inclusive resorts where you order food and drinks and never have to worry about “cashing out”. This was a little inconvenient, but nonetheless, the all-inclusive package was absolutely worth it.

There’s also a bed & breakfast package that includes breakfast at Lago Restaurant or room service. Don’t worry, it also comes with a golf cart!

Living in luxury

There are private rooms, suites, and villas (think…mansions) to rent. The suites were beautiful and had a great view of the golf course. Each room and suite came with a golf cart. I don’t think we could have enjoyed the 7,000 acre resort without a golf cart.

Amazing villa!

Adults-Only Pool

I won’t lie, I almost didn’t choose to stay at Casa de Campos because it was not an adults-only resort. But when I researched just how incredible this luxury resort was, I could not pass up the opportunity to visit. Check out the adults-only pool at Mintas Beach. There’s a separate bar, DJ, and plenty of space to enjoy the sun.

Altos de Chavon

This romantic replica of a 16th century Mediterranean village is approximately a 15 minute (golf cart) drive from the main resort entrance. There’s an amphitheater for concerts and shows, a museum, restaurants, shops, and breathtaking views. We missed all of the good DJ’s when we visited in April, but almost crashed a wedding the night we visited the Italian restaurant.

Marina

Rent a sailboat, charter boat, or a freakin’ yacht! Casa de Campos has it all. We noticed that a lot of groups came to the resort by boat (…yacht).

Drinks by the Marina

You get what you pay for at Casa de Campos because there is so much do see, do and enjoy! I think this is a perfect place to visit with your significant other, family, or even solo.

OTHER RANDOM THOUGHTS AND TRAVEL TIPS

  • Pack a light jacket! It gets chilly at night, especially when driving the golf cart.
  • Bring bluetooth speakers to listen to music on the golf cart.
  • There is an airport in La Romana that is less than 20 minutes from Casa de Campos, but it was difficult finding a flight from Orlando. We flew into Santo Domingo and hired a private car through the resort to pick us up and drop us off.
  • Book all your excursions well in advance! Spots will fill up quickly.
  • Reservations at certain restaurants are a must.
